Men,
A friend of Einstein once asked for his phone number.
Einstein, one of the most gifted minds on the planet walked to his desk and picked up a phone directory.
“You don’t know your own phone number?!” asked his friend in bewilderment.
Einstein calmly explained - “never memorize something you can look up.”
according to the story, at least.
Here’s the point - Genius isn’t mad, it’s selective.
The best minds waste what's cheap (storage) to save what's dear (brainpower).
Many men get it backwards and waste what's dear, holding onto what they later find out is cheap.
They give a piece of their soul in the workplace, staying late, attempting to impress a boss they despise instead of going home to love their family;
They memorize the phone number they should be relegating to the directory (or the trash bin).
It’s time to do some housekeeping up in the ol’ noggin.
See with new eyes the value (or lack-of) in the things you hold dear:
Pride
Comfort
Ego
Face
Being right
All of the above are cheap, easily lost and gained and not even worth scrounging for. But you find yourself grasping for them anyway.
God
Health
Family
Time
Soul
Dreams for the future
All of these are precious, irreplaceable and worth fighting for. But you play with these aspects frivolously. The problem is, you THINK you have time.
Your strength may be made limited by the Almighty, but the possibilities with it is vast.
Stop wasting what is dear.
Stop grasping at air.
Turn towards Christ. Turn towards your family. Look yourself in the mirror. Be Selective.
